Rev. George P. Busekros

The Reverend George P. Busekros, Pastor Emeritus, age 82, went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2011, at his home in New Lenox, IL, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Eleanor, nee Mayer, for 60 years. Loving father of David, Steve, and Diane (Joseph) Richmond. Cherished grandfather of Kyle & Teagan Busekros and Zachary & Abigail Richmond. Dear brother of Marilyn Schueneman. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews. Rev. George was a 1951 graduate of the University of Illinois and a 1954 graduate of Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, Missouri. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Eden in 1970. In 1963 he was called to be the pastor at Salem United Church of Christ in Oak Lawn, IL. He became the first chairman of the governing counsel of Christ Hospital and was also chairman of the board of Lifelink Corporation in Bensenville, IL. After serving 32 years at Salem Church, he retired in 1996 and moved to New Lenox, IL with his wife. Rev. George will lie in state on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ 9717 S. Kostner, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in New Lenox, IL.
