Gary G. Meyer

Gary G. Meyer, born April 2, 1939, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. Beloved husband for 60 years to Beverly, nee Bysterveld. Loving father of Amy (David) Tiemersma, Derek (Maribeth) Meyer, and Sarah (Paul) Powers. Cherished grandfather of Jacob, Mark (Heather) and Benjamin (Grace) Tiemersma; Kevin, Bryan Meyer; Maria (Marcus) Eizenga, Renee and Kyle Powers. Dearest great-grandfather of Jovielle Tiemersma and Juliana & Marie Tiemersma. Dear brother of Henrietta (late Gerrit) Van Beek, Irene (Dan) VanderBerg, Dennis (Susan) Meyer, Donna Meyer, and the late Arlin (Sharon) Meyer and the late Myron (late Karen) Meyer. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.

A retired English teacher from Chicago Christian High School with 43 years of service, Gary founded the Fine Arts Festival, directed many student and alumni plays, and sponsored the Senior Retreat for many years. Outside of work, he was passionate about reading, creative writing, and drama. He enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events and was active in his church community.

Visitation Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 Noon at Colonial Chapel 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL.
