Frederick Deruiter

Frederick J. "Fred" DeRuiter, age 88, U.S. Navy Veteran. Beloved husband for 67 years to Joanna S. DeRuiter, nee Bruxvoort. Loving father of Frederick D. DeRuiter, Karen (Calvin) VanEssen, Ruth (David) Veenema and Steven (Tracy) DeRuiter. Cherished grandfather of 10. Dearest great-grandfather of 11. Dear brother of Phyllis (Richard) Shuurman, Richard (Linda) DeRuiter and the late Clarence DeRuiter. Fond brother-in-law of Dora Steffen and the late Brandt, Herman, Ralph and Marvin Bruxvoort. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Fred graduated from Eastern Christian Academy Schools. He served eight years in the USNR Clifton. He worked for Verizon for 39 years. Fred was a volunteer fireman for 50 plus years. He was a Fire Alarm Superintendent in Prospect Park and Haledon, NJ, Rotary member in Haledon, NJ, Paul Harris Fellow Councilman and Mayor of Prospect Park, NJ. Fred was also a deacon and elder in Christian Reformed Churches. He was the President of the Christian Camper's Club in NJ. In addition, he served at Wycliffe Bible Translators in NC for 17 years in the telephone department.

Visitation Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral Service Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL.
