Elias "Eli" Visser

November 21, 1926 — February 22, 2025

Eli Visser, age 98, beloved husband for nearly 77 years to Jeanette (nee Speelman) went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2025.

Loving father of Jeanne (Bear) Dickson, John (Linda) Visser, Tom (Lor) Visser, Sharie (the late Kurt) Mahlfeldt, Judy (Jim) Ardon, Joan (Harold) Aardsma, Cindy (Bernie) Laporte, and Linda (Darin) Dykstra.

Cherished grandpa to David Dickson, Jonathan (Sarah) Dickson, Josh (Shawn) Visser, Julie (Dan) Droog, Ben (Meghan) Visser, Tim (Erin) Hillegonds, Heidi (Jon) Wenzel, Aaron (Lauren) Visser, Jill (Ryan) Kuyvenhoven, Amanda (Marcos) Flores, Nick Boerema, Chris (Adriana) Boerema, Troy Ardon, Grant (Kelly) Ardon, Sarah, Meghan and Matt Aardsma, Dan Laporte, Eli (Anna) Dykstra, Micah (Jayden) Dykstra and 23 great-grandchildren.

Dear brother of Clara (the late Nick) Koster and preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Mae (George) Hoeksema, Jessie (Jay) Dorn, Don (Marge) Visser, Gert (Louie) Dykstra, and Martha (Marty) Frieling.

Dear brother-in-law of the late Rich (the late Marge) Speelman, the late Clarence (Henrietta) Speelman, and Robert (Barb) Speelman.

Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Eli was a man whose faith was the foundation of his life. He was an active longtime member of Calvin CRC in Oak Lawn, IL, and served as a Deacon and Elder. Hands-on involvement included Crossroads Prison Ministries, programs for the homeless, the Chicago Seamen’s Mission which ministered to sailors far from home, and many other organizations. Eli was also a dedicated employee of Simko Provision Company for many years. In retirement he worked at Grice Furniture and delivered flowers for Blooming Fields.

Family was always central in his life. Eli was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He also enjoyed time with friends, traveling, golf, and music, especially singing.

Visitation Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 9:00 a.m.to 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park IL.

Burial with Military Honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL
