Mr. Edward J. Matushek Jr.

Mr. Edward J. Matushek Jr, 91, at Palos Hospital.  Retired U.S.P.S. 33 years.  Beloved son of his late parents Edward Sr. and Stella (nee Bek).  Cherished husband of Phyllis (nee Roseto).  Devoted father of the late Edward III (Alisa), Lynn (Robert) Kuntz and Mary (Paul) Herbert.  Loving brother of the late Katherine (the late Bob) LaRocca.  Dearest grandfather of  Michael Herbert, Katherine Herbert, Jacob Kuntz, Edward Matushek IV, Matthew Matushek and Natasha Kuntz.  Fond uncle of David LaRocca and Barbara (Phillip) Potter.  He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and visiting Hawaii.  He had a true love for dogs, and always carried a pocketful of dog biscuits for a neighbor's or stranger's dog in need of a snack.  He cherished his moments of having a beer with his neighbors, and will be sorely missed by his family and friends both human and canine.  "Neither rain nor snow nor heat nor gloom of night shall stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."  Memorials in Mr. Matushek's name to the TInley Park P.A.W.S. chapter appreciated.  Visitation will be on Wednesday March 2, 2022, at Maher Funeral home from 3-8pm and Mass at St. George Catholic Church at 10am Thursday March 3, 2022.  Interment Holy Sepulchre.
