Earl Ruswick

December 7, 1955 — May 23, 2024

We lovingly regret to announce the passing of Earl Ruswick, 68, of Orland Park, IL, on Thursday, May 23, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Earl was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 7, 1955, to Earl and Marian (Pranger) Ruswick. He spent his childhood growing up on Chicago’s south side, and he graduated from St. Willibrord High School in 1973.

Earl graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1981 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science. He then graduated the following year from the same University with a Master’s in Business Administration. He went on to work at George O’Days Shop as a loyal employee for nearly 39 years before his retirement in April 2022.

Earl enjoyed a variety of things in life, faithfully listening to his talk radio, traveling to different places, delivering impromptu dad jokes, and spending time with family and friends. He never hesitated to help those in need, and his generosity and compassion served as an example to those who loved him.

Earl married the love of his life, Pattie (Menconi) Ruswick, on December 12, 2003. Together, they loved co-hosting summer parties, delightedly designating those as Camp Happy. He loved watching their grandchildren participate in all of their events, giving noogies, and co-hosting an annual Christmas in July event with them all.

He is survived by his wife, Pattie; his children, Aaron (Toni) Ruswick; Jenny (Tim) McClyman; and Carmen (Stephanie) Sabia; siblings, Greg (Laura) Ruswick; Doug Ruswick; Donna Ruswick; and Alan Ruswick; 12 grandchildren, Samantha, Logan, Isabella, Jack, Ben, Elizabeth, Landon, Vincent, Tori, Caroline, Natalie, and Ryan; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, family, and friends.
