Dr. Frank Mancari Jr., a devoted follower of Christ, brilliant psychologist, and beloved father and grandfather, passed away on April 17, 2026, in Downers Grove, Illinois, at the age of 64.
A Life of Purpose and Mind
Born on September 14, 1961, in Chicago to Frank Mancari Sr. and Theresa Mancari, née Reifon. Frank’s life was defined by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a desire to take care of his family. A proud graduate of Brother Rice High School and Loyola University, he went on to earn his doctorate from the Illinois School of Psychology. For over 30 years, Frank served his community as a Doctor of Psychology, a career that stood as one of his proudest professional achievements.
Beyond his clinical work, Frank was a man of action. He was an avid runner who completed dozens of races, including the Chicago Marathon. He found peace in the outdoors—whether he was fishing, walking in nature, or soaking up the Florida sunshine with a morning coffee in hand.
The Heart of a Disciple
Frank’s life was anchored by his faith. A dedicated attendee of Grace Fellowship Church in Oak Forest, where he was baptized, he was a true disciple of Jesus. He was known for being loving with words, a romantic soul who was both thoughtful and encouraging. He had a sharp, booksmart intelligence paired with a youthful, silly sense of humor that could light up a room.
He loved the guitar, fine dining at new restaurants, and deep Bible study. Above all, his greatest mission was sharing the love of God with his family. He cared deeply that his family and grandchildren knew Jesus as their personal savior.
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.'" — John 11:25
Family and Legacy
Frank’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children, who he was immensely proud of at every stage of their lives: Melissa (Asher) Lewis, Gina Mancari, Zeffyn (Strawberry) Hunnie, and Michael Mancari. He remains the cherished Grandpa to his grandchildren, Evelyn, Birdie, and Waylon Lewis, and is survived by Carrie Mancari, the mother of his children.
He is also survived by his parents, Frank Sr. and Theresa Mancari, née Reifon; his siblings, Victoria Whitlock, Christine (Jimmy) Radanovic, Barbara Mancari, and Vincenzo (Maria) Mancari; and his beloved goddaughter, Nora Whitlock.
