Dorothy Jensen

Dorothy Jensen, age 100, was called to the Heavenly Gates on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet with her family by her side, joining her beloved husband, Charles. Dorothy was born on April 1, 1924, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She moved to Chicago with her mother at the age of three. She was the daughter of the late Freida & Michael Hoffman. Dorothy was married to the late Charles Jensen for 47 years. She was very active in her work, family life & St. Christina’s Church. Dorothy loved to play Bingo and card games and was very competitive. She served Communion for many years. Dorothy was always ready to listen and offer supportive advice. She always had something positive to say, no matter what the situation may be. She was feisty but had such a sense of humor and loved to laugh while making others laugh too. Dorothy’s love for her family was endless.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert (Patsy) Jensen, Michael (Connie) Jensen, Maryann (Randy) Allen and Carol (Jim) Gidlund; her grandchildren, Kristie (Mark) Benaitis, Bobbie Sue Upchurch, Doyle La Grand, Nicole (Troy) Gass, Jim (life partner, Sam Kosulic) and Josh (Denise) Gidlund; great grandchildren, Dima Gass, Connor Gass, Cameron Gass, Tanner Benaitis, Colton Benaitis, Ethan Gass, Jayden Upchurch, Eddie La Grand, Harley Upchurch, Konnor Upchurch and Mason Gidlund; as well as her niece, Pat Livings Molinaro.

She is preceded in death by her loving spouse, Charles Jensen, her son, Richard Jensen, her parents, her sister, Goldie Miller and her brother, Robert Hoffman.

As it was her final request, cremation rites have been arranged, and private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Maher Funeral Home, Tinley Park.
