Donald Walter Stachnik

Donald Walter Stachnik, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished papa, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026 at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 14, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, Don lived a life rooted in his deep love for family and his unwavering faith, both of which guided everything he did. He gave selflessly of his time and heart to his church, living his faith through service, kindness, and quiet strength.

Above all, Don was a family man. He shared his life with his true love, Mary Lou, and together they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and steadfast devotion. He was a proud and loving father, and a guiding presence whose love, patience, and wisdom shaped their lives. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in time spent with them.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, children: Erin (Steve Samson), Steve (Michelle Stachnik), Sarah (Chris Hofer), Elizabeth; grandchildren: Ethan, Leah, Emerson, and Amelia, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Elaine Stachnik and his brother Steven.

Visitation Friday, February 6, 2026 from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Saturday, February 7, 2026, 10:45 a.m. from Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL to St. Damian Church, 5250 W. 155th St., Oak Forest, IL for Mass 11:30 a.m.
