High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high unsurpassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Donald J. Silvestri, age 70, beloved husband for 45 years to Diane, nee Parucka. Loving father of Aimee. Cherished grandfather of Jake. Dear brother of Larry (Sharon) Silvestri and the late Angela (late Charlie) Dykstra, Vincent (late Alfreda) Silvestri and Bill (late Mary) Silvestri. Devoted son of the late Adolph and Grace (nee Reilly) Silvestri. Dearest brother-in-law of Carol Silvestri, Barbara (late Jerry) Dufek, and Ellen (Donald) Walker. Fond uncle and great-uncle to many.

A Celebration of Don's life will be held at Pilcher Park, 2501 Highland Park Dr., Joliet, IL 60432 on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Details will be available August 1, 2021 on the Facebook Pages of Aimee, Carol, and Cheryl Silvestri.
