David P. Ehlman

July 17, 1964 — November 1, 2025

David "Dave" Paul Ehlman, aged 61, of TInley Park, IL was taken from us suddenly on November 1, 2025. He died doing what he loved. Dave was born to Elizabeth Ehlman (nee Hoppenjans) and John "Jack" Ehlman on July 17, 1964 in Berea, OH. He was the youngest sibling, baby brother to Nancy, Tracy, and John "Jay".

After living for a time in Omaha, NE, Dave and his family settled in Park Forest, IL. Life eventually carried Dave to Tinley Park, IL. Dave attended Rich East High School in Park Forest, IL. He excelled in sports, especially softball, baseball, and golf. Dave attended Illinois State University in Normal, IL, but realized that his calling was entrepreneurship. Following this path, Dave began working in the trades. Eventually, he created his own successful company, Summit Painting, LLC. Dave was so proud that he was able to run his company without cutting any corners, maintaining full integrity.

While working for the Krasners, long time friends of the Ehlman family, Dave came into contact with their daughter, Elisabeth. Their relationship grew slowly, with Dave initially asking Elisabeth to tag along on painting jobs. After careful and traditional wooing, Dave and Elisabeth were engaged on April 20, 2010, and married on October 16, 2010. They had just celebrated 15 years together. Maria and Nicholas are the fruit of their marriage. They will miss their husband and father terribly, taking solace in their memories together.

Dave is preceded in death by his father, John "Jack" Ehlman. He leaves behind his wife, Elisabeth (nee Krasner), daughter Maria, and son, Nicholas. Also left behind are Dave’s mother, Elizabeth Ehlman (nee Hoppenjans), siblings Nancy (Mike) Embry, Tracy (Wayne) Swanson, and John "Jay" and Jodi Ehlman. Additionally, Dave leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his in-laws, Helen and Allan Krasner, and sister-in-law, Emily (nee Krasner) Dagon and family. It would be remissed to not include Magic Nibbles, Dave’s smelly cat.
