David Dykstra

July 20, 1946 — April 24, 2020

David Martin Dykstra, age 73, passed away on April 24, 2020. David leaves behind his beloved wife of twenty-one years, Patricia Bue Dykstra. Loving father of Amy Page, Dana (Tim) Drabek, Jamie (Al) Woo, Erin (Erick) Galason, Ashley, and Katie. Dearest stepfather of Dawn Rehus, Dianna Kunz, Alisa (Thomas) Minarik, Thomas (Theresa) Frachalla, and Cheri Keske. Proud grandfather of many. Beloved brother of Richard (Cheryl) Dykstra and his sisters Tess (Bill) Beukema, Diane (Richard) Wendt, and Pearl (Dave) Decker. Loving uncle to his nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife Cathy (nee Beard) Dykstra and his wife Linda. He was also preceded in death by his parents David and Pearl (Biancarelli) Dykstra.

Dave was born in Chicago, he was a proud business owner of D.M. Dykstra Company and Torvac, active member of the Old Neighborhood Italian American Club, Kiwanis Club, Member of Screen Actors Guild, Blue Island Chamber of Commerce, Plumbers Union 130 UA, and a proud Army Veteran serving in the Illinois National Guard.

Dave was a devoted father and husband. He enjoyed being with family, friends, and helping others. He touched many lives with his love and laughter. He will live in our hearts forever.

Due to social distancing requirements in place with the COVID-19 pandemic, a drive-thru viewing for friends and family to be able to pay their final respects to David will be held at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL on Thursday, April 30, 2020 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. All people paying their respects are asked to remain in their cars at all times while in line at the funeral home and follow signage in the funeral home parking lot.

A private funeral service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel. While this service is limited to David's immediate family, a live-stream will be available.
