Daniel E. Wolak, age 79, of Orland Park, IL passed away at home Wednesday, June 14th, 2023. He was born in Chicago, IL on September 22, 1943 to Edward and Wanda (Kojak) Wolak.
Dan is survived by his loving wife Jean (Mergist) of 52 years, his three children; Michael and Brian of New Lenox, IL and Michelle of Frankfort, IL; grandchildren Corissa Foreman-Wolak, Sarah Anderson, Adeline Wolak, and Harrison Wolak. He is also survived by his brother Jim and his wife Janice Wolak. In addition to his parents Edward and Wanda, Dan was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Wolak.
Dan was a proud graduate of Northern Illinois University. Shortly after graduation, he served in the United States Army, 3rd Armored Division, Spearhead. He married the love of his life Jeannie in 1971. They welcomed three children and made Orland Park their home. Dan was a dedicated, hard worker for many years in the steel industry, retiring in 2014.
Dan treasured his time with his wife Jean and his second love, his 1959 Ford Retractable. He enjoyed the outdoors recalling fond memories of fishing and camping the boundary waters with the guys. He loved sitting by the campfire at Woodhaven Lakes telling funny stories. He also liked swimming in his pool and visiting with family. Dan was lifelong member of St. Julie Church.
Visitation Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Prayer Service 10:30 a.m. from Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL to St. Julie Billiart Church, 7399 W. 159th St., Tinley Park, IL. Mass 11:15 a.m. Interment private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
