Corrine Anne Warke was promoted to the presence of her Lord on August 1, 2024 from Rest Haven Home in Grand Rapids. Corrine was born into the family of Ruth and Harris Mizener on May 7th, 1941 in Westerly, Rhode Island. She was the loving wife and companion of her husband William R. Warke (Bill) for 61 years. The Mizener family grew over the next decades with the addition of Samuel (Mary Ruth), David (Wilma), John (Karen), Philip (Karen) and Roy (Sharon).
Bill first saw Corrine at a Bible Conference in Cleveland, OH, and He was quite impressed. One thing led to another, and they were married September 7th, 1963 in Weirton, WVA. A year later, a son, Robert, was born, followed by a daughter, Carol (David Tiesma), after almost four years. The family now includes nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In 1965, Bill and Corrine moved to Chicago and Bill did graduate studies and taught at Illinois Institute of Technology, while Corrine was super-mom homemaker. The Warkes joined the 86th Street Assembly, and Corrine became very active in Sunday School, Ladies Classes, Ladies Home Bible Studies, Kitchen Committee, Visitor Entertaining Committee, and more. When the Assembly moved out of the city, and adopted the name Palos Hills Christian Assembly, she continued in many of these ministries.
In 1978, Bill went to work at the Amoco Research Center, and travelled quite often. Corrine would go with him on various Committee trips, where she got to know other wives and socialized with them. The greatest adventure was a series of trips to China that lasted from a few days to five months. They had home Bible studies and some guests became believers, while others came to the door and refused to enter. Corrine had the privilege of leading one young lady to the Lord one afternoon.
A number of years ago, it became evident that her health was slipping and she was diagnosed to be having the initial stages of Alzheimer’s disease. As would be expected, the symptoms worsened over time until it was necessary to move to a nursing home, and the family chose Rest Haven Homes in Grand Rapids and Corrine and Bill moved there in May of 2023. On August 1st, at nearly 7:30AM, Corrine slumped while being transferred to a wheelchair, and the nurse could find no sign of life. The Lord had stopped her heart and taken her to his eternal home in Heaven.
