Cledis Horner Jr., 92, of Manteno IL, passed away Sunday May 5, 2024. To know Cledis, was to love Cledis. He had a special way with people and his smile was infectious. Born and raised in Chicago, he was an avid Chicago sports fan, except for the Cubs. Cledis was a member of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean War. Cledis embodied all things family. His family was his driving factor in life. He retired for a second time working full time into his mid 80’s as “Mr. Sears”. Cledis’s favorite things were to work in his beautiful yard, his family, and his appetite and love for food and chocolate. Every Saturday morning you could find him at Yani’s having breakfast and making jokes. Cledis was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 56 years, Beatrice Horner, both of his parents, four brothers, one sister, and son in law, David Snodgrass. He is survived by his four children, Veronica Deluca (Steve), Tammey Snodgrass, Wendy Czajkowski, and Randy Horner, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and niece Sandra Metzger. VISITATION Friday, May 10th, 3-8pm with a Liturgical Wake Service time to be determined. FUNERAL Saturday, with 10:00am prayers at the funeral home processing to Assumption Catholic Cemetery for a graveside service with military honors afforded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Cledis' name to the Alzheimer's Association appreciated.
