C. Dean Acklin, age 92, WWII US Navy Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home in Tinley Park, IL on May 13, 2021. Former husband of the late Dorothy "Dottie" Acklin. Loving father of Michael (Karen) Acklin, Kathleen (Richard) Lodewegen, Susan (Richard) Acklin-Wilson, Mark (Sharon) Acklin, Thomas (Holly) Acklin and Carol (Richard) Stern. Cherished grandfather of 12. Dearest great-grandfather of nine. Beloved husband of the late Janet Snyder. Fond step-father of Bryan Snyder, Dana Snyder, and step-grandfather of two. Preceded in death by his siblings Virginia Ferguson, Louise Buzalski, and Bill Acklin.

After serving in the Navy, Dean worked for Reyerson Steel for 8 years; he then worked under a local dentist before opening up his own dental lab which he owned for over 60 years. Dean was a true sportsman who loved to hunt, fish, and scuba dive.

Visitation Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 5-6 p.m. with a Service to Celebrate Dean's life to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. To uphold safety guidelines, all guests are asked to wear a mask and respect social distancing requirements.
