Becky Pluister, a proud Christian and true Southside Chicagoan with unmatched chutzpah, passed away at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy of love, tenacity, and unapologetic authenticity.
Becky was a force of nature, living many lives within her own. Her vibrant personality and determination were the hallmarks of her character, beloved by many who knew her. A fighter at heart, she would back into any corner life pushed her into and come out swinging, not just for herself but for anyone she loved.
As a mother of six, wife, and caretaker of her extended family, Becky's well of love knew no bounds. While she won't be remembered for her housekeeping skills, her home was a sanctuary for those navigating life's messiest moments. She was the rock and lighthouse for many, offering unwavering support and guidance on how to embrace all of life, even the messy parts.
Becky's impact extended far beyond her family. She was an organizer, leader, and lover of humanity. Her generous spirit led her to support numerous non-profits and individuals in need. Known for making U-turns or impromptu (her kids would say sketchy) stops, she went out of her way to ensure that no person in need went unseen, unsupported or unloved.
As a grandmother, Becky took pride in creating magical moments for her grandchildren. Her spirit shined the brightest when she was with her babies. Her mischievous nature and ability to find joy in every situation made her beloved among young and old alike.
Urban legend leads us to believe that Becky inspired the saying, "You mess with the bull, you get the horns." Her fierce loyalty and fearless approach to life made her the person you wanted in your corner during life's wildest rides.
Becky's philosophy was simple yet profound: kick life's ass, be your most authentic self, and remember that love is worth giving away as long as you're giving yourself love too. Her mantra, "Carpe Diem," was not just words but a way of life she embodied every day.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we carry forward her spirit of fearlessness, her ferocious appetite for life, and her capacity for boundless love. Becky's fire and loyal love will remain unmatched in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you perform an act of kindness for someone in need, step outside of your comfort zone to help a stranger, or simply live life with the same fierce authenticity that Becky exemplified every day.
