Barbara Bachleda

June 6, 1949 — October 4, 2020

Barbara Ann Bachleda, nee Turk, age 71, passed away due to breast cancer on October 4, 2020. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Richard for over 50 years. Loving mother of Julee, Anthony (Melanie) and Thomas (Barbara). Cherished grandmother of Samantha, Jennifer (Matthew), Steven, Alexander, Abby and Mila. Beloved great-grandmother of Kaleb and Aura. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was born in Midlothian, Illinois to Frank and Margaret Turk. She went to Queen of Peace High School and went on to Capri Beauty School. Barbara worked at the Continental Can Company before moving on to UPS, where she worked for most of her career.

Barbara met the love of her life by chance when she was involved in a 4-car accident in the late 60’s. Richard was with a couple of friends, he approached Barbara, put his arm around her and said, “Don’t admit to nothing and don’t say anything.” Fast forward months later, they meet again at a gas station that Richard was working at, and the rest is history.

Richard and Barbara married on October 11, 1969 and had their first house in Worth. From there they raised their family in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago.

In April 2017, Barbara was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. After 10 rounds of radiation and 5 months of chemo, the doctors were able to put the cancer to “sleep.” But the trials never ceased when late 2019, Barbara experienced heart failure and the cancer “awoke” in June 2020. Even after losing her beloved Richie, Barbara didn’t stop fighting, as she endured 3 more months of chemo until the cancer finally won.

Barbara passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara loved to travel, especially to Mexico. She was an animal lover who spent many years volunteering at P.A.W.S. Barbara’s love and generosity will always be remembered.
