Arlene Hoekstra

Arlene D. Hoekstra, nee Evers, age 85, beloved wife for 66 years to the late Robert R. "Bob" Hoekstra (2020), peacefully went home to be with her Lord on January 15, 2021. Loving mother of Cindy (Ed) Schutt, Dale (Joni) Hoekstra, Rev. Timothy (Laura) Hoekstra, Daniel (Jana) Hoekstra and the late Janice Kay Hoekstra. Cherished grandmother of 16. Dearest great-grandmother of 29. Dearest sister of Chester, Jr. (late Myra) Evers, James (late Marilyn) Evers, Phyllis (late Charles) Persenaire, Sharon (Ken) VanderWoude, Laurel (Martin) Douma and the late Richard (Dorothy "Dottie") Evers and the late Donald Evers. Dear sister-in-law of the late Laverne (late Jack) Wagenaar and the late Donald (Joyce Davids) Hoekstra. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was a devoted song leader for Sunday School for 35 years. She was affectionately known as "Grandma Sunshine" by all the children. Arlene was a very giving, loving and encouraging person, who was known to send many people birthday cards and notes of encouragement.

Due to COVID-19, private services will be held.
