Anthony F. Ponziano

Mr. Anthony Ponziano, 74, late of Tinley Park, formerly of Chicago's Roseland neighborhood.  Passed away Sept 7, at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest.  Beloved son of Frank and Viola Ponziano.  Cherished husband of Jessie (nee Gierat).  Devoted father of Annette, Melissa (Kenny) Miles-Adkison, Christopher (Jacinda), Antonette, Gina (Matthew) McGeever and Anthony.  Loving brother of Frank, Sharon (David) Roselle, James (Denise), the late Sharon, and Florence.  Dearest grandfather of Dominic McGeever, Vincent, Gino, Sarah, Brittney, Christopher Jr., Michael Miles, Madison Miles, Angelo Cano, the late Richard Cano and Lucas Cano.  Anthony loved cooking, gardening (especially cacti), watching the Planet of the Apes and nature shows.  He was a longtime employee of the Cook County Forest Preserve District and through his work there gained much satisfaction from working to preserve nature for all of the public to appreciate and enjoy.  In his younger years, he was a lifeguard and enjoyed diving.  He was very family-oriented and enjoyed cooking meals with his family at his side.  Visitation Friday, Sept 10, from 3-8pm.  Funeral Mass Saturday 10:00am with prayers at the funeral home at 9am departing to St. George Catholic Church, Tinley Park.  Entombment Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.
