Loving uncle of Kerry Little, Jenny Brewer and Christopher Bing.
Loyalty and devotion to family and friends were the hallmarks of Al’s life. He spent 41 years at People’s Gas / NICOR, joined Trinity Lutheran in 1968 where he served as an usher, moved to Pine Drive in 1979 enjoying many cherished friendships, golf outings and boat trips, He was an avid woodworker, lifelong SOX and Blackhawks fan, loved family vacations, ABBA, puns, Neil Diamond, pork chops and perfect Manhattans! After retiring he and Judi engaged in countless home projects, traveled and treasured time with family and friends until Judi’s illness. As Judi’s full time caregiver including four years of hospice, Al displayed a manly love and affection inspiring all. A man of incredible faith, he never took himself too seriously, providing endless jokes and antics endearing him to family and prompting this question, “Does everyone have an Uncle Allan?” They should. To his grandchildren he was their beloved “Poppie” building cribs, playsets, desks, shelves and so many things that we all see Poppie everywhere in our homes.
Al’s family would like to thank Franciscan Village and Palos Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. Everyone who knew Al, raise a glass to a man of uncommon goodness and decency. The world is better because he lived.
