Alberta Walker, affectionally known as "Granny" entered this world July 25, 1937, through the union of Lucille and Clarence Walker in Anderson, South Carolina.
Alberta grew up in Anderson South Carolina, she was a product of the Anderson school system where she graduated from Westside High School in 1955. Alberta attended Pivot Point International Academy in Evanston, IL. in pursuit of a cosmetology license.
Alberta was employed at Jewel Food Store for 25yrs., where she was a frontend manager and a union steward until her retirement. She went on to obtain her Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and serve as executive board member with SEIU HCII.
Above all, Alberta excepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended Sweet Holy Spirit Church, under the leadership of Bishop Larry D. Trotter, where she served as a trustee. She loved spending time with her family and friends, hosting Sunday dinners. Creating new memories with those she loved.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling, road trips, with her family, and her van club where her C.B. handle was "Lil, Momma." She loved watching the Bulls and the Cubs.
Alberta peacefully passed away on September 11, 2024. She was a beloved mother, God mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Alberta will be remembered most for her love of PEPSI, BASKIN ROBBINS Black walnut ice cream word search puzzles, sneakers, and new cars. Most importantly, her leadership, her loyalty, her kind demeanor, support and unconditional
love.
Alberta was proceeded in death by her parents Clarence and Lucille Walker, two brothers Robert and Clarence Walker Jr. Two great grands Hosie D. Wilson and Shandell Joseph Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories by her four children: Genevosineo (Pat) Welch, Cassandra (Sandy) Wilson, Michael Walker, Carol Walker. One God daughter Audrea Conner. Eight grandchildren Hosie. S. Wilson, Tion J. Welch, Dione Mercier (Jaron), Monique Thames (NaTasha), De'Oshanae Daniels, Myracle Walker Jeffries, My' Kayla Walker. Eleven great grands, four great-great grands. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
DEATH LEAVES A HEARTACHE NO ONE CAN HEAL. LOVE LEAVES A MEMORY NO ONE CAN STEAL.
The family of Alberta Walker is indeed grateful for your prayers, visits, phone calls, flowers, cards, and the many expressions of sympathy shown during this difficult time of Bereavement.
