Obituary for Zachary James Kulak

The world was made a kinder and gentler place when Zachary James Kulak was born on October
17, 1988 to Tim and Kathy (Haff) Kulak. But life for Zack truly began when he met his other
half, Katelyn Raddatz-Kulak. They were married on September 10, 2016, and after a brief
period of globetrotting, they began building the family that Zack loved more than words can tell.
Mikey (7), Carmen (6), Rowan (4), and Claira (1) were the light of his life. Zack was wholly
devoted to his wife and children. To say that fatherhood suited Zack would be a criminal
understatement. Through his boundless compassion and humor, Zack was an example to all who
knew him of how to be a better parent and spouse.

A proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 399, Zack was driving to work at the Richard
J. Daley Center on the evening of September 30th when another vehicle traveling at high speed
took him away from all of us.

Zack was recently preceded in death by his mother. Left behind are his father, brother Matt
(Jackie), parents-in-law Laurie and Larry Raddatz, siblings-in-law Melissa and Sean Raddatz, his
nieces Livia and Sadie, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A man of uncommon decency, Zack was a friend to virtually all who were fortunate enough to
have met him. His friends and family take solace in the knowledge that Zack will live forever in
the memories of everyone whose lives were made better by having known and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 2-6pm with a Service at 5:30pm at
Colonial Chapel, 15525 S 73rd Ave (155th/Wheeler Drive & Harlem) in Orland Park.

Zack gave us so many beautiful and comical memories. We were all lucky to have known him. This opportunity for a lifetime of memories has been taken from his children. If you can, please write your favorite memory of Zack or bring a picture or two. We would like to borrow your wonderful memories to create a book to share them with the kids.
