Obituary for Thomas W. "Tommy" Thompson

Thomas W. "Tommy" Thompson, age 69, beloved husband for 46 years to Donna L., nee Workman. Loving father of David Thompson, Bill (Michele) Thompson, Maria (Serafin) Tagarao, Michael (Kristen) Thompson, and the late John Thompson. Cherished grandfather of Alexander, Logan, Malakai, Gideon, and Sophia. Dearest brother of Marie (Gary) Stark. Dear brother-in-law of Linda Cirone. Dear uncle of Nicholas, Ivan, Heather (Jacob) and Austin (Amanda). Dearest great uncle of Oliver, Graham, Heidi and Claire.

Tom loved God and people. He demonstrated love to others through kindness, encouragement, humor, and generosity. His children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends were his biggest blessings. He appreciated the many wonderful people who worked for him. They were not only colleagues; many were treasured friends.

Tom loved to work and was a true entrepreneur. He began working in his parent’s moving company as a teen and throughout the years began one business after another. He always had a new vision and idea. He was the ultimate optimist with a joyful spirit, who valued relationships with his business associates and customers.

Tom was grateful for all the care given to him through his health challenges and was especially appreciative of Michael who so graciously and lovingly became his main caregiver. He delighted in his evening “Read the Bible” time with David. He enjoyed hearing about Maria’s children’s adventures, and seeing Alex’s growth and Tom was proud of Bill’s new career.

Special thanks to his children and their wonderful spouses, to Dean, to Tom’s health care providers, to Fresenius, and to the Palos Park Fire Department, who picked him up countless times when he fell.

Tom looked forward to seeing his Savior and he wanted everyone to know Jesus.
