Obituary for Ruth L. Rohlfs (Swanson)

Ruth L. Rohlfs, nee Swanson, was born on March 30, 1929 to Reuben and Maida (nee Petersen) Swanson and passed away on July 1, 2022 at the age of 93.

Beloved wife of William "Bill" Rohlfs for 72 years. Loving mother of Deborah (Kevin) Elliott and Diane Rohlfs. Cherished grandmother of Kristen (Jeff) Walraven and David (Mandy) Elliott. Dearest great-grandmother of Benjamin, Elli and Will Walraven; Savannah, Joshua, Liam and Madeleine Elliott. Dear sister-in-law of Gloria (and the late George) Bulau.

Ruth retired from Marshall Field & Co. after 17 years of employment and thoroughly enjoyed shopping. She and Bill traveled extensively statewide and overseas but her favorite place to visit was Door County, Wisconsin. Ruth was an active member of Palos Community Church where she served as a deacon. She was a very social person and participated in book clubs, TOPS, Coffee Break Bible Study, card games, Bridge and PEO. For many years she wrote in daily journals. She loved all animals but especially dogs. Her greatest passion and joy was spending time with her husband and family. She will be remembered for her creativity in composing poems and songs and her loving compassionate care for others.

Visitation Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL.
