Obituary for Richard J. "Rick" Snyder

Richard J. Snyder “Rick” age 74, passed away peacefully at his home on March 2, 2021. Beloved husband for 46 years to Margaret “Peg”, (nee Crawford). Loving father to Tom and Scott and father-in-law to Ellen and Chloe. Cherished grandpa to Matt, David, and Hannah. Devoted son of the late Charles and Edith (nee Sowers). Dear brother of Donald and the late Edward. Fond brother-in-law of Alicia (nee Washington). Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews

Rick was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend.

Rick had a perfect partner and wife in Peg. He made sure she was always taken care of. Even in his final weeks he wanted to ensure that Peg would have a secure and fulfilling life . During retirement, Rick and Peg had many great memories spending time in Arizona and with their grandchildren. In Arizona, Rick and Peg would travel across the state to visit the many attractions. They also loved following the White Sox around to the different Arizona spring training ball parks. During their daily walks in Arizona, Rick would take detours with Peg to go around a local golf course and look for golf balls in the bushes he could bring back to Illinois.

Rick would always say he loved being a father and grandfather. When Tom and Scott were growing up, he never missed a game either being a coach or spectator. He continued that practice with his grandsons, Matt and David. They also had many great memories at 35th and Shields. Later on, he would love to have the boys over on Sundays to watch the Bears.

Rick was a proud alum of Reavis High School in Burbank, IL. During this time he forged many great lifelong friendships that went from the baseball diamond when they were kids to the golf course as adults and retirees. Rick and his friends loved talking about their beloved White Sox and compete with each other on the golf course where Rick was considered one the few remaining honest golfers.

Due to COVID-19, the family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later date to be determined.
