Obituary for Richard T. Bachleda

Richard Thomas Bachleda, age 73, passed away due to health complications from the Corona Virus on June 13, 2020. Richard was the beloved husband of Barbara, nee Turk, for 50 years. Loving father of Julee, Anthony (Melanie) and Thomas (Barbara). Cherished grandfather of Samantha, Jennifer (Matthew), Steven, Alexander, Abby and Mila. Beloved great-grandfather of Kaleb and Aura. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Richard was born in Chicago, whose grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Poland. Richard met his wife, Barbara by chance when she was involved in a 4-car accident in the late 60’s. Richard was with a couple of friends, he approached Barbara, put his arm around her and said, “Don’t admit to nothing and don’t say anything.” Fast forward months later, they meet again at a gas station that Richard was working at, and the rest is history.

Richard and Barbara married on October 11, 1969 and had their first house in Worth. From there they raised their family in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago.

Richard worked as a PBX installer, in other words as a “phone man,” for Ma Bell, Lucent and finally Regents Park. Richard stopped working when he had his first stroke. Richard beat cancer twice: Melanoma and Lung cancer, but then had 2 additional strokes. He fought every step of the way, watching his kids and grandkids grow up, and was even able to dance at his grand-daughter’s wedding.

Richard was an animal lover and avid fisherman. His legacy of love and generosity will always be remembered.
