We are so sorry. We are praying for your whole family. What a blessing to the world Bill was and will continue to be through the everlasting ways he allowed Christ to use him. How lucky I am to have had him marry John and I. Thank you Bill and Karen for your friendship and encouragement to our Thumme and Vinson families. We love you.

Thank you God for bringing Bill into our lives, what a gift it has been. We met Bill at a Joni & Friends Family Retreat in Indiana in the early 1990's. We huddled in a meeting room that first night due to a tornado warning, and the wind of the Holy Spirit has been blowing through the caverns of our hearts since. Bill was the ultimate encourager, helping use press on with what God gives us in this life. His compassion for those with disabilities, and his kind and gentle spirit are the testament of Jesus life in him. I am sorry we didn't get a trip in to Russia together, but we will have many other adventures together in a far more glorious place!

To Bill, our dearest friend and partner in sharing God’s Good News to the world:

-- Your leadership often challenged us to serve with excellence no matter the cost—and you modeled it with humility and compassion.
-- Your skillful handling of the Word and your total dependence on the Spirit of God set the tone at teaching time—no one could deny the fact that it was God’s Word, and God’s Word alone, that you faithfully proclaimed.
-- Your vision and passion to see people get hold of simple truths about life, ministry, family, and issues facing our culture was the mark of your pastoral heart—it was contagious indeed!
-- Your courageous determination to venture into new cultures was indeed remarkable—not afraid to navigate into the complicated nuances of the unfamiliar.
-- Your influence on the missionary community and the thousands and thousands of national pastors will be felt for generations to come—you encouraged us to remain faithful to our call and pursue after God’s own heart.
-- Your carefully crafted messages, whether oral or printed, often made us whisper: “God, you’re amazing!”
-- Your zeal to see the global church believing, trusting, loving, and serving God echoed powerfully throughout your ministry—what a legacy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
