Matthew was always so nice to me and my family. He helped do a lot of snow shoveling and other yard work for me over the last several years. He never asked for much in return. I would run into him out in the neighborhood and he always took time to stop and talk with me. Just a few months ago he cleaned some gutters for me and we talked a lot about what he was going to do in the future. Tom and Terry and family, I am so sad that he is gone and he will be missed. God took him home too soon.

I remember one family party and we were all waiting. With a house full of children and no entertainment, I remember Matt showing all my siblings the "secret" parts of the house, and letting them run in the basement and giving endless piggyback rides, even though we told them not to do that in the house. But Matt was just so kind and caring, and was always the first to make sure everyone was comfortable. My memories with Matt over the last couple of years have been positive, from just hanging out at my sister's to our attempted family group snapchat-which everyone ended up leaving out of frustration (lol). I am so thankful to have known someone as kind, sweet and gentle as Matt.

I don't know why this photo. We must have hundreds of you with that smile that could light up any room. But here we are, looking eye to eye. I want to look eye to eye now and tell you how much I love you, how valuable you are, what great worth you have as an image bearer of your Creator. I went to the baseball field today and sat in the empty bleachers. I could see you at third base trying to run down the opponent with the catcher (I think you even more enjoyed being the one in the pickle trying to score!) I could see the ball flying over the fence after your mighty swing. You had so much gifting (and not just in baseball). You just lost your way and couldn't see it. You were my middle child and now there is just a hole. I will never understand this journey. It was not supposed to take this path. I will keep asking God the hard questions. In this valley, He will be my Good Shepherd because that is who He is. Tomorrow, I will see you and your eyes will be closed. How I long for one more look into your eyes.

Words can never fully express how much you will be missed and how loved you are. I have so many memories with you that I am so grateful for and will cherish forever. I'll always remember when we were little and I was your favorite playmate for a time and you'd be attached to my side-you were the absolute CUTEST little kid! Going to your baseball games and watching you hit home-runs. All of our family parties, and you know that's a ton since we have one for basically every occasion! We would always catch up and have such good talks. You truly had the kindest heart and also the best smile. There was the brightest rainbow in the sky on Thursday and I just knew that you are being held in Jesus' arms, now at peace. Love you forever, Matt.
