I am so sorry to hear about Miss Lorraine. She was a wonderful woman who raised a fantastic family. We were lucky enough to have her (and their entire family) as our neighbor. I have so many fond memories of Miss Lorraine. One day when I was seven or eight I had fallen and my knee was bleeding badly. My Mom wasn’t home so I knocked on her door for help. She was so kind and gentle with me. She lifted me onto her washing machine, which in itself was very cool to be sitting up so high, and she cleaned up my cuts while telling me stories about how she too had scrapped her knee as a kid. To this day I remember her warmth and kindness. There was always a comfort knowing that all of the wonderful women on Kilbourn Avenue would be willing and able to help any of us kids at anytime. I’m sure Miss Lorraine is enjoying seeing Mr. Ray, my Dad and Mom, Miss Jane, Miss Mary, Miss Tud, and everyone else from our block in Hometown, up in heaven.
