Two Cats
Ken had the luck of two cats. When all this happened, I was pre-teen. So let's not let the facts get in the way of a good story. Probably forty plus years ago. Ken had totalled 18 vehicals before the age of twenty five. This included his father's boat... Which I was in.
We were up at Lake Thunderbird on a Sunday after church. Sundays, are the Lord's day. Therefore, no boat driving. Having ridden back to the clubhouse after church before the moms and dads came back from church, because let's face it ,they like to talk a long time, Ken figured he could get Norwin a few rounds around the lake before the parents came back to the campgrounds. Unfortunately, Ken had a habit of watching the skier instead of where he was going. We ran into shore at about 25 miles an hour and flipped the boat. My brother Brad, the spotter, jumped clear, I crawled out from underneath, two guys ran down from up on the shore, and Norwin Swam quickly in and we were able to upright the boat to get Ken out from underneath the overturned boat . Yes the boat was totaled.
On another occasion, he did the "let's get some skiing in before our parents get back" trick and Kenny skied around the lake two times in his full three-piece suit. Unfortunately he hit the beach too quick while trying to step out of the skis and somersaulted head over heelsl. His mother always wondered why there was sand in the pockets of his Sunday suit.
