Obituary for Judith Kay Bronsema (Verbeek)

Judith Kay Bronsema was called home to her Lord and Savior on April 21, 2023 at the age of 83. Judith also fondly answered to the names Judy, Jude, Mom, Mema, Grandma, and Grandma Judy.

Judy was born on November 13, 1939 to Marie and Joseph Verbeek in Chicago, IL. She is survived by her adoring husband, Willard Bronsema, who she wed on February 13, 1959. They were blessed with a long and happy life together, married for 64 years. Not without their own challenges, they faced the ups and downs together while leading with their faith in the Lord and love and devotion to one another. Together they had three daughters, Debra (Doug) Pierik, Lorilee (Rich) VanderVelde, and Sherri Kallemeyn (Bob Roth). Beloved Grandmother to Christopher (Faith) Pierik, Courtney (Richard) Warehime, Jori (Joseph) Wegner, Kami (Steven) Vinke, Hollin (Bobby) Dompeling, Tyler (Tiffany) Kallemeyn, Lacee (Joshua) Sinnema, MacKenzie (Dmitry) Petersen, and Brecken (Adrian) Deneen. Judy took great delight in their 17 great-grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved brother Hans (Jo) Verbeek and is survived by her dear brother Randy (Karen) Verbeek and best friend and sister Joanne (Frank) Groen. She is also preceded in death by her loving brother-in-law John (Chris) Bronsema, and survived by dear sisters-in-law Ellen Mae (John) Cook, and Jeanne (John) Dwarshuis.

A loyal and fun-loving soul, she kept lifelong friendships, had a big heart and an easy laugh. She loved cooking, baking, and weekly Wednesdays with Joanne. In recent years, nothing made her happier than to watch her ever-growing family gather together for Easter egg hunts, Christmas bingo, and snowflake pudding. This is because Judy loved family and loved tradition. She created these fun and memorable holiday traditions for her family to enjoy. Traditions we carry with us. Her love and joy will carry on through our laughter and the warmth of our togetherness.
