Jeff Tytel, 65, died February 20, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on December 31, 1956, in Chicago, IL, to Lawrence Titlebaum and Florence (Deitch) Titlebaum.
He was the beloved husband to Martha Sue Tytel, devoted father of Matthew Tytel (Adrienne Epstein) and Max Tytel, loving stepfather to Andrea and Jamie Thompson, Claire and Denis Sullivan, Rosa and Paul McIntire, brother to Phyllis Cerel, and the late Allen Titlebaum (Sharrel), uncle to Jessica Darmoni, Lauren Titlebaum, Brian Scott, and Jennifer Lynn, grandfather to Payton Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Mason Thompson, Selene Sullivan, Logan Sullivan, Tyson Thompson, and Cora Sullivan.
Jeff enjoyed several hobbies – serving in his church, photography, sailing, golfing, traveling, and playing his guitar. Jeff also loved people and would always make friends wherever he went. His wife would often have to pull him away from conversations with strangers to get to wherever they needed to be. His jovial, friendly demeaner made those around him feel comfortable and loved.
He also loved his family very deeply. He was extremely proud of his sons and enjoyed spending time with them, traveling to see them across the country. Jeff also enjoyed spending time with his family in Chicago, faithfully attending baseball games, school plays, birthday parties, graduations, and everything in between.
As much as he loved his family, his love for Jesus was even greater. Anyone who knew Jeff knew that his relationship with God was the most important part of his life. He was passionate about sharing the hope and joy he found in his faith with others.
To honor Jeff’s passion for sharing his faith, in lieu of flowers, Martha Sue asks that you consider donating to Reborn Ministries, an organization that Jeff was extremely passionate about. Jeff’s son-in-law started this ministry in West Garfield Park Chicago in 2006. Their mission is to transform the lives of others with the power of God's love.
