Obituary for Janet L. Valente (Borke)
Janet L. Valente, nee Borke, age 84, beloved wife for 59 years to the late Edwin Fortunato Valente (2020). Loving mother of Paul (Mary), David (Carolyn) and Eric. Cherished grandmother of Alexia (Andrew) Valente Horton, Brandon Valente and Ashley (Jordan) Dennett. Dear sister of Joan (late Jim) Dougherty, John "Jack" (Trudy) Borke and the late James (late Doreen) Borke. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Because of Janet's decision to follow Christ in 1974 and the providence of God's mighty hand, the trajectory of our family was changed. It is fascinating to consider how one life affects so many. She was a lover of books, especially the Bible. She was always studying and passing on wisdom quoting, “The good book says…” she instilled a love for learning and art and included thoughtful handwritten inscriptions on every gift she gave. Those are a treasure now. Today she is with her Lord and was reunited with her beloved "Oddie" dancing cheek to cheek. As one who appreciates order, beauty and the finer things, I know she is in her glory in Heaven! Romans 14:8 "For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's."
Visitation Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Service Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Interment Fairmount - Willow Hills Memorial Park, Willow Springs, IL.
