Obituary

George R. Banevich, Sr., age 73, beloved husband for 49 years to Martha, nee Tatter. Loving father of George (Sarah) Banevich, Jr., Melissa (Nicholas) Glaros, and Matthew (Debra) Banevich. Grandfather of Melina Glaros; Cory and Carissa Banevich. Brother of Sandy (Randy) Drew and the late Danny Banevich. Dear brother-in-law of Charles (late Margie) Tatter, Barbara (late Allen) Dreibelbis, Karen (Dennis) Beckmann, and Bill (Jill) Tatter. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.

George was an active member of Faith United Protestant Church in Park Forest, serving as an usher and on several committees. He was an avid fisherman, but enjoyed spending time with his family the most.

Visitation Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 5-9 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem), Orland Park, IL. To uphold safety guidelines, all guests are asked to wear a mask and respect social distancing requirements.

We will always remember George sitting in church every Sunday near his wife, Martha, while she played the organ. He was a staunch supporter of her, and a faithful companion.

Dear Martha, I’m sorry I cannot attend George funeral! I’ve Been having some plumbing problems and I’m living in Culver IndiAna. He was always kind to me! Please know that I’m so sorry not to be there for you and your kids. I have good memories of when they were all just that. Please know I remember waiting on you guys and you both were always a sight for sore eyes. I’m sure George is with the Lord and smiling down on everyone! God bless!
