Obituary for Edward Meyer Sr.

Edward Meyer, Sr., age 90, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. The youngest son of the late William and Nelle (Folkerts) Meyer, he is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jeannette (nee Wilkinson), five children, William (Gale) Meyer, Edward Jr. (Luann) Meyer, Debra (William) Davids, Patti (Kurt) Giesler, and the late Christopher Meyer, 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his brothers, John, Al, Jake, Bill; and his sisters, Annie, Grace Sellers, Angeline, Clara Pomella, Annette Auwema, and Joan Klein. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Ed was a dedicated worker and successful businessman, owning Meyer Brothers Scavenger Service, Able Disposal, and Meyer Steel Drum. Ed served on the board of directors for many financial institutions throughout his career. Ed was passionate about life and all it had to offer, and loved a big party. Ed's character exemplified his strong values of perseverance, community, family and faith, and he will be missed by many.

Visitation and Funeral Service Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Palos Heights Christian Reformed Church, 7059 W. 127th St., Palos Heights, IL with a Visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon with a Service to celebrate Ed's life to follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens South, Oak Lawn, IL. A live-stream of the Funeral Service will be available.
