Obituary for Dr. Roger F. Hagenberg
Dr. Roger F. Hagenberg, 76, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2022. Rog leaves behind his loving wife Jeanne Hagenberg (nee Olson), with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on July 2, 2022. He will be dearly missed by Rog and Jeanne’s four children and their spouses Denise (nee Hagenberg) & William Scholtens, Mark & Elaine (nee McDonald) Hagenberg, Rebecca (nee Hagenberg) & Michael Lunsford, Bethany (nee Hagenberg) & Randall McGill, and nine grandchildren.
Rog was born on February 1, 1946 in Berwyn, IL to Frank & Evelyn (nee Tesar) Hagenberg. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, IL in 1964 and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, IL in 1970. In 1973, he partnered at Bremen Animal Hospital in Tinley Park, IL where the practice thrived under his direction until he retired in 2017. Affectionately called ‘Doc’, he particularly enjoyed performing surgery and was admired for his thoughtful care for his clients, their pets, and his employees.
It was love at first sight when Rog met Jeanne on a blind date in 1971. They married one year later and raised their children in Orland Park, IL. Vacationing was a highlight for their family, especially trips to Disney World and Jamaica. One of Rog’s greatest joys in most recent years was large family gatherings filled with his kids’ stories of tender, often silly, moments of home life and the laughter and play of his grandchildren.
Rog was loved for his gentle spirit, quick humor, and quiet generosity.

Visitation Friday, March 11, 2022 from 3-7pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 7pm at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave (155th/Wheeler Dr & Harlem) Orland Park, IL 60462. Burial private at West Lisbon Lutheran Cemetery, Newark, IL.
