Obituary for Cynthia J. Visser (Stob)

In loving memory of Cynthia J. Visser, we are saddened to announce her peaceful passing on May 14, 2022 in her home in Tinley Park, Illinois. Cindy was born on March 20, 1952 (the first day of Spring) and celebrated her 70th birthday just two months ago. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Cornelius Stob and Jeanette “Nettie” Stob. She is survived by her husband Tom (married March 5, 1976); her children Nathan Visser (Charity) and Megan Cooke (Matt); her grandchildren Miles, Ramona and Penelope Cooke; her brothers John Stob (Rita) and Neal Stob (Beverly); and Tom’s siblings Maynard Visser (Anita), Carol DeBoer (Cal), Ruth Evenhouse (Ken), David Visser (Linda), Larry Visser (Lorrie). Her love and light in our lives will be sorely missed.

Cindy graduated nursing school in 1976 and enjoyed a career of caring for people as an RN first on a medical surgical floor and then through urgent care, hospice care and home health care. Throughout the years she enjoyed volunteering in creative and relational capacities whether that be creating banners for the church sanctuary and artistic enhancements for Vacation Bible School, or working with ministries such as Coffee Break at Faith CRC, Love Inc, Roseland Christian Ministries and World Renew Disaster Response. Her favorite pastimes included spending as much time as possible outdoors and/or with her loved ones. Biking, traveling, gardening and quality time with her grandkids were definitely on the top of the list. In May of 2021, Cindy was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare but aggressive form of brain cancer. One year to the day within getting diagnosed with a brain tumor, Cindy passed away.
