Obituary for Cynthia Marie "Cindy" Barr

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Cynthia Marie Barr, lovingly known as Cindy, on December 14, 2020 at the age of 63, in her home surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer.

Cynthia was born July 30, 1957 in Hazel Crest, Illinois. Survived by her loving sons Nicholas S. Anderson and Richard B. Anderson, her mother Arlene M. Barr-Amendola (Salvatore Amendola) and preceded in death by her father Ralph W. Barr; Cindy is also survived by her sisters Brenda A. Barr-Miller (Eugene Olson), Mary E. Barr-Tor (Otto Tor), Julie A. Banasiak (Lawrence Banasiak), nephews Alexander Banasiak, David Banasiak, Austin Tor and niece Allison Tor, step-brother Robert Amendola (Beth) and lifelong friend Patrick Curtis.

Cindy was the founder of Soldiers Guardian Angels, a volunteer group that organized welcome home and deployment celebrations for our veterans and soldiers. She worked around the clock with volunteers and veterans to provide motorcade escorts and celebrations to honor our soldiers. She was a recipient of several awards for her volunteer efforts.

Cindy was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her beauty, intelligence and spirit will be missed.

A Graveside Service at Fairmount - Willow Hills Memorial Park in Willow Springs, IL will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is to meet at the 95th St. and 104th Ave. cemetery gate by 10:30 a.m. We will then proceed together to the grave.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Cancer Society are appreciated.
