Obituary for Catherine Hackenbroch (Novicky)
Catherine Ann Hackenbroch (nee Novicky), age 74, passed away after an extended illness on September 9, 2020. Beloved wife of 48 years to John "Jack" Thomas Hackenbroch. Dear half-sister of the late Margie (late David) Schwabenland and loving sister of Victoria (Robert) Millies. Dear sister-in-law of the late JoAnn (late Robert) Sears. Survived by her cousins Michael (Sandra) Gournoe and Betty (late Paul) Gournoe.
After Cathy attended Chicago Vocational High School, she was employed by Naval Intelligence and Fruit of the Loom as Executive Civilian Secretary/Financial Analyst for Admiral Bernard Firestone. Her office was located in the Willis (Sears) Tower until her retirement.
She loved trips with Jack to family, friends, Europe and being with Jack and his friends on frequent rail fan day trips wherever they were held. Her hobbies were watching professional videos (created by JHvideo) of trips, reading, watercolor painting, cross stich/embroidery, collecting stuffed bears and David Winter houses. Her smile and saying "the problem is" will be missed by all.
