to say "Luke" was as large as life itself is an understatement. he was an XXL man with a XXXL heart of gold. I played Basketball with Bill thru Jr. & Sr. high school. he was a tremendous optimist and always had big dreams. When he decided to do something he really committed 150%, be it Basketball, painting, or golf. When you were a friend of Bills you were a friend for life. Friends were very important to Bill, I remember how devastated he was when Rodstrum fell in a painting accident. Had hoped to see him at our 50th in 5 years.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of my old friend Billy Hackel. I have many fond memories of us as kids growing up in Evergreen Park. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Great memories with Bill, the drummer in our first band, band practice in Bill's basement, our first band appearance in a forest preserve, teammates in baseball and basketball, classmates at EPCHS. We laughed together.
