Billy

I have not seen Billy since HS, but he will always be a big part of my life. We met at school in 2nd grade. Got in a fight playing keep away at recess. We were sent to the principal's office where Mr. Robertson made us shake hands. We became good friends. 9,10,11,12 years old, we played softball, basketball, football together in the street, his driveway, at 92nd and Millard, at recess. Sleep overs where we stayed up late and watched John Wayne movies or Bob Hope, Bing Cosby Road Movies. Had my first drink in his basement, rum and coke. Walked home together after school down 94th Street, with about every other kid at Central School. We got one of the big rolls of string they always had at the grocery store and flew a kite with it. We launched it by riding our bikes down my block and then we ran the string all the way out. It was so high, we could not get it back down and just let it go. We had fun.
