Robert D. Hummel, age 84, US Navy Korean War Veteran, beloved husband for 34 years to Therese, nee McCarthy. Loving father of Stephanie Hummel, Robert M. Hummel and Susan (Christopher) Timm. Cherished grandfather of Ian and Andrew Homich; Rachel (Phil) Fletcher, Robert A. Hummel, John (Adriana) Hummel; Christopher "Eric" (Jamie) Timm, Sarah (Michael) Hughes and Alexander Timm. Dearest great-grandfather of Evan, Audrey, and Timothy. Fond brother of Ted (Alice) McLaughlin and Michael McLaughlin. Dear cousin of Jane Walters. Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago for many years.
Memorial visitation Saturday, December 3, 2016, from 2-7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave., (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL 60462.
