Obituary for David E. Oberg

David E.  Oberg
David E. Oberg, age 97, WWII US Army Air Corps Veteran, beloved husband of the late Geraldine "Gerry", nee Hanson (2015). Loving father of Janice (Ki) Adams and Ken (Wendy) Oberg. Cherished grandfather of Allison (Jason) El Koubi, Taylor (Andreas) Christl, Lindsey Oberg and David Oberg. Dearest great-grandfather of Marc David, Madeleine, Jackson and Oliver. Dear uncle of numerous nieces and nephews and friend of many.

David's family would like to give special thanks to his caregiver, Laura Olund, and his doctors James Rydel, M.D., and John Herbick, D.O. He was a proud member of The American Legion Orland Memorial Post 111. Dave was a charter member of Christian Hills Church for over 90 years, dating back to the original Christ Church and Wittich Memorial Church. He served and ran the bus ministry for over 50 years and lead the church in music by serving as the choir director, worship leader and band director. Dave was well known for leading the annual Veterans' Memorial Day service at Christian Hills Church.

Lying in State Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. at Christian Hills Church, 9001 W. 159th St., Orland Hills, IL 60487. Committal Service with Military Honors Monday, November 7, 2016, 2:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
