Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Tinley Park, IL

The funeral professionals at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory are available to provide you with the information, guidance, assistance and support that you need during this difficult time. We arrange for funerals, memorial services, celebrations-of-life, burials and cremations in the Tinley Park, IL area. Providing highly personalized tributes and featuring a privately-owned crematory located on the premises, we handle all aspects of making final arrangements with compassion and meticulous care.

Funerals are important events because they help people to accept the finality of death and begin the healing process. Funerals also give the opportunity to show respect for the departed and find comfort from others who are also grieving the loss of the loved one. There, mourners can share their memories of the deceased and reflect on the accomplishments that he or she made during life.

We offer traditional funeral services that include a visitation, funeral and burial. After the interment of the casketed remains, the family and their guests often gather at a restaurant or reception hall for a meal referred to as a repast. During the visitation, guests visit with the family and offer their condolences while viewing the casketed remains of the deceased. Usually held at the funeral home, a place of religious worship or at graveside, the funeral is an event that can include music, prayer, the reading of passages such as scripture and singing hymns. At the burial, there is typically a committal service when laying the departed to rest.

Unlike a funeral service, a memorial ceremony does not have the casketed remains present. After a cremation, we can arrange a memorial gathering in honor of your loved one at our funeral home, a church, a community hall, restaurant, park or other location of your choice. Generally, the urn is displayed, perhaps accompanied by a recent picture of the loved one and an arrangement of flowers.

A celebration-of-life is an even more individualized version of a memorial service. You can include elements that illustrate the uniqueness of the deceased by using live music and theming the event. We specialize in helping families to hold a celebration-of-life for a loved one that is fitting and that captures his or her personality and spirit.

Our burial services include our help with choosing a particular cemetery, a specific plot, a headstone or marker and its inscription. Those choosing cremation will gain access to our on-site crematorium, and their loved ones never leave our care to go to a distant crematory.
